Small, but powerful.

The EF86 draws from the AC15 tradition and from the distinctive character of the EF86 pentode: great dynamics, immediate attack and an exceptionally responsive feel under the fingers.

We reworked the circuit and operating points of the EF86, addressing one of the best-known weaknesses of early EF86 designs: microphonics associated with the tube’s high gain. The power supply was also redesigned around a solid-state solution for greater robustness and stability.

The result is a compact head with surprising volume and presence.

The clean sound is clear, open and highly dynamic. Turn up the Volume and the EF86 starts to push, gradually tightening into an aggressive, compact and rock-solid overdrive. It is the kind of amplifier that simply makes you want to turn it up and play.

It also makes an excellent pedal platform. Its clear, immediate response gives overdrives, fuzzes and modulation pedals plenty of room to show their own character without making the sound feel crowded.

The controls follow the same philosophy: Volume, Cut and a four-position Bass control. Just the essentials, easy to understand and quick to dial in, leaving you to concentrate on what really matters: playing.
